Welcome to Myendetta Station

Myendetta Homestead, or the “House of 100 doors” is a building of national historical significance, designed by the leading architect of the day and is part of Charleville’s pioneering history. Nestled ’midst the mulga scrub, it is a real hidden gem just waiting for you to discover.

Built in 1910 to a unique design created by the renowned architect, Robin Dods, Myendetta Homestead is the original eco friendly house – truly visionary for its time. A roof that is 2/3 the height of the house, sweeping verandahs and the surrounding lush green gardens make it a real vision rising from the dusty scrub.

“Myendetta homestead is the most sophisticated homestead in Western Queensland. It is an architectural treasure.”

The homestead was the realisation of the dreams of Charles Francis, a well educated immigrant from England. His story is a fascinating one of trials and triumphs, and one we love to share. The following four generations of the Francis and Agar families have been fortunate enough to also live in the homestead and graze the property.

Myendetta StationRichard and Wendy Agar, the current owners, are passionate about sharing their amazing cultural and natural heritage and also about the sustainable management of Myendetta Station for all future generations (the property is still a working sheep and cattle station).

Richard and Wendy invite you to come and share some Myendetta Magic!
